Mini Game 2

Okay so a while ago I was talking about making a mini game game and here is more specific things that my team in my class need help on

We are a high school students and have recently been told to switch from game maker to gamesald and thus are novices with this engine. We are needing to create a video game very similar to Cooking Mama. We want a handful of mini-games that are not necessarily tied together other than receiving a completion to go back to menu for another game. This game is for a contest and being made for K-5 students to learn about sustainability.

We have recently found out that gamesald templates can be purchased, this will save us much time from developing game mechanics and to just concentrate on design. Our question is:

1. Can many templates from different sources be combined under one video game menu system like in cooking mama?

2. How do we approach a menu system like this.

Lovely game, that Cooking Mama. ~:>

    1. Not easily. If this is your first time working with GameSalad, I don't recommend buying a template as a starting point. You may not understand what you're seeing and that may be more frustrating than just trying to learn how to use the tool.

First, work through examples (see the link in my signature for a series of video tutorials or head over to gshelper.com or the GS Cookbook videos). Once you understand the basics, then it might be worthwhile to purchase a template.

    2. See #1.

I teach students game design with GameSalad. Much of this really depends on how much time you have. My students are able to make their first game after about 6-8 hours of planning and coding. Mind you these are very simple games, but they work and are playable and entertaining.

You can combine many gs projects with our tool project merger, I also try and add loads of notes in our templates and offer free support for the inner workings and reply to emails within 12 hours but of course it's best to get a feel for the engine 1st and see if you understand what's going on.

@WullVeR, I recommend posting any questions you have here. That way you can crowd-source your answers. And DBA makes great products so you can't go wrong with their stuff.
