Question about ios publishing and updating...

Hey all! Quick question. Couldn't find the answer anywhere outside of GS.
I have an app that has been approved and is ready for sale BUT I've decided not to release it yet. Instead i want the latest version i just made, to be the one that gets released. This update is currently in the apple review process.
Question is- can i do that? Do i have to release the initial game BEFORE the update? Or will this update simply replace the old one and then i can release that one? Couldn't find the answer in the official apple documents.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

No, I don't think so, considering that you rejected the binary, it would be fine and the second version will come out first

@lizzyclub i didn't reject the binary. From what i read this would not fall under that catagory. I was hoping it would simply replace it. If not- should i just release the app i have? Because i don't want it to take another week for review. If you reject binary you go to the bottom of the list again.

@anatomyofdreams If you didn't reject the binary, but you made a new app, there would be 2 apps released. I don't know of any other ways to do an update of an app without rejecting the binary. If you didn't make a new app, if it gets approved before the release date, it will probably release the updated version. What will be the name of your app?

I'm pretty sure that once you get your updated version approved, just submit that. You don't need to publish the 1st version without the update if you don't want to :)

You can submit a second version and then once approved release it (the original version will not be released). It works I have done it multiple times, in fact I have one like this now awaiting approval.

Just make sure the release date on the first version is VERY late (so it will not release while waiting for 2nd version approval). The you can release the second version once approved.

Just to be clear- so i do not need to reject the binary? I can now stop worrying about that? Hehe. I basically just release the update and that will replace the never released first version. Let me know if i got anything wrong there please :)

Thank you so much @lycettebros @lizzyclub and @chakku THANK YOU SO MUCH! Its amazing having such solid and helpful people on these forums. Thank you again!

Btw @lizzyclub the game is called MR JABBS: Epic Waste Of Time

And i've said it before i'll say it again- I absolutely love those can of worms @lycettebros. All my best to you and your game :)

Hi @anatomyofdreams thanks for the compliments! I hope "Can of Worms" does well too. It is my pleasure to help :)

You do not need to reject the binary. Leave it. It will disappear once your new version is approved and on the store. So submit a new version and wait for it to be approved.
Good luck with MR JABBS: Epic Waste of Time.
