When my app is finished , Is it better to sell my app

Or to put it up for free, using either I ads , and in app purchases , or one of them alone

Or both; a free version and a paid version , I'd like to know what people thinks is best

What way makes more money in the long run

Taking into account, getting more popular , getting recognised ect ?

Personally, I think a fee and paid version is the best way to go. Have the free version with an IAP to unlock the full game. Just my two cents.

@braydon_sfx would you make it so , they get restrictided gameplay in the lite version ,

for example only use one bike and they can't buy another one , then show them they can se way better bikes on the paid version

( They could also use , quads, buggies ect on the paid one )

is that how you would go about doing it ?

That kind of thing yes, have more levels/courses and power ups too. If they're going to pay, you need to give them significantly more

Or, you can just have a free version, and then have them buy things in your shop or coins for your shop. This way it's often eiter repeated 99c purchases or one larger purchase.

Obviously this is not the only way to, but in general, don't expect people who have bought anything labeled 'Pro version' or 'Unlock all' to pay much more for anything (with the exception of possibly coins for an IAP shop).

@snapfirestudios I was thinking of maybe having, in app purchases for coins , and lets say for example 5000 coins is £0.99 I was going to say , if you buy the pro version you get

    5000 free coins
    And
A few tracks and bikes free (maybe a quad) only available on the pro version

So they get a lot for there money

And thu get stuff to make the game more fun

I wouldn't do it quite like that. I'd just sell coins, and then have a seperate part of your shop where they can buy app upgrades.

@SnapFireStudios is there any tactical way , to create a very good chance of them buying something ?

@Braydon_SFX im saying like , is there ways to ,convince them to buy IAP

is it mainly about , making them addicted , then not making it to easy to achieve the best stuff ?

so they will need to either play it loads, or buy IAP (coins) to acquire the top bikes ect?

Personally, if a game makes you purchase things to complete a level, I uninstall it. So I think it comes down to making them addicted to the gameplay, and having the IAP store available on every page possible.

@Braydon_SFX i dont mean making them purchase stuff to complete a level, i mean something like

For example lets say they earn on avg 100 coins a jump
And there is 6 bikes ,1 quad , 1 monster truck
the 6 bikes are on sale starting from 500 coins (cheapest bike)
    3000 coins (Best bike)

Them bikes are reasonable to get without buying coins

but then the quad and monster truck are say 9000-15000

so they think well if i want the quad or monster truck i will after purchase them (they do not have to have them , its personal preference )

or even have the quad and monster truck as an IAP

I wouldn't do the single purchase = single vehicle thing. As a consumer, I wouldn't think I'm getting enough for my money.

If you wanted to go that route, I would do as others have said before, make everything purchasable with in game currency, and make IAP to add currency.

@ShmirlyWhirl - I agree. And yes, make sure that they never run out of good things to buy with coins.
