How many users do you think GameSalad has?

Well, thought I'd start another random thread. Just for grins. :D

How many (forum) users do you think GS has? Not just ones that have posted, because then you can just look at the first comment badge.

Maybe after a few days @StraightSaladShooter will tell us the actual amount and we'll see who was closest ;)

    My guesses:

    Total: 6,000 (Edit, I meant 60,000)
    Pro: 1,200

    :-?

I think there's more than 6,000. :P If I'm not mistaken, SSS posted a long while back how many users there are. It was more than 6,000.

Im gonna guess 1,000,000 pro.... :)) thats more like my wish so that GS could hire more devs and implement features quicker. That and it would make a great community even greater.

I'm still not convinced there are not just a handful of users posting on dozens of accounts each.

What would these people gain from doing that? Makes no sense. The only real reason to multi-account on forums is to avoid a ban and how often do you see people get banned here? Not very often so....

Sounds like you're talking out of your butt with no real proof to back any of that up. :)

I'm pretty sure he was just joking.

Wow, thats a lot of competition.

The way SSS phrased his post makes me wonder how many debs are in China.

And in case @Chakku and @DepressedPanda took my previous comment seriously- I was indeed joking.

Yeah.. I never would of guessed that it was OVE - I mean over 200,000.
I assume that means just people who use the Creator.

So the next points of wonder would be how many are on the forums (active or not), and how many have published games? :-?

As far as publishing goes, I would imagine a very small percentage. If they are using the free creator, I have a hard time imaging them shelling out the money for the Developer License.

But who knows. I have been wrong before.

@ShmirlyWhirl - I'm not neccesarily talking about Apple publishing. Any types, but it'd be cool to know about the percentage/number on different platforms also. Then again, there's no real reason why any of need to know this :P

Ah, my line of thought was like this:

It's safe to assume Pro Users have published something.
If I'm not mistaken, Android publishing is Pro only, which means the only platform a free user can publish to would be iOS.

Of course, I was not thinking about HTML5, but I don't think that would be many peoples end goal.

The real question to ask is "How many are on the latest version of Creator?".

This is because many many people sign up for creator, but totally abandon it, but are still counted towards the total dev count. If we count only those on the latest version, we can recognize only those currently making games, and not count people that say downloaded creator on 0.9.4 and haven't used it since.

@ShmirlyWhirl - You'd be surprised how many people just develop for HTML5. Unfortunately, GS is very limited on that front..
And yes, Android publishing is Pro only. However, keep in mind Mac app store publishing.

I know HTML5 is popular, but I am talking strictly from a GameSalad perspective.

However, I did forget about Mac publishing.

@Shmirlywhirl - I myself run half the accounts on the forums, and frequently argue with myself to create a sense of drama and theater! :D
Haha! I sort of suspected this, you know.... ;-) Kinda like Agent Smith?

As is common in marketing only about 1% of users of a product actually participate or comment on a product. this is very normal which means that the forums is a very small portion of people who use GS. And you thought GS revolved around the forums I think not. We really are big fish in a small pond. Food for thought.
