Community Collaboration Game?

I know, I've been posting a lot today (this will be my last one for today) but I was thinking (uh oh bad idea! :D ), what if the entire GS community came together and made some sort of thank you game for the GS development team? Sort of a "Thanks for making such a great program" sort of thing? Then if the team wanted (if they agree to) could publish it into the app store along with Battle Legend Infinity. What do you think?

And how do you propose we do that? Let's say for the sake of argument that there are 2000 forum members. GS Creator allows for one person to edit a project file at a time.

And how shall we plan it? Google doc with 2000 people making edits?

I think a better idea is for you to pick two other people to work with and make a tribute game. It better be a kick-*** game. ;)

[Aside: please don't bump threads after an hour and a half. Some people are still waking up...]

@tatiang True true... Ok so lets say I assemble who I think are the best developers in the community. I put the file up and each day someone adds something(s) to the game. That would work right? (Also about the bump, ya sorry. I was just a bit impatient. I need to slow down on the forums. [This is the second time I've been told about bumping this week])

You're still going about trying to make this a community project. What I'm suggesting is that you had the idea so you should find a small team (i.e. two other people) and build a game. When you've done most of the work, post your progress for community feedback.

A large-scale community projects sounds really fun and amazing but in reality it's not feasible.

wether it's feasible or not, the spirit of your idea is awesome! We need more of that kind of positive contribution to the forums :)

Yep. Have to agree with @tatiang.
People have tried these things before, but they just don't work out.
Think about trying to manage, collaborate, and share ideas with more than a few people. That's hard stuff ;)

@SnapFireStudios Yep, I know that now that I'm actually thinking. (Didn't you notice the uh oh in the "I was thinking" area? :P )

Easy...pick one-two people to handle each task. Two for programing, two for art, 2/design, 2/sound etc. Could be cool if the contributors have the time and skill. Also it would need to be published under the programers dev account. (at least that would be best, unless this is meant for the Arcade and not the AppStore)

Maybe it could start from a simple template to make things easier and more achievable. Not a lot of people would have the time to dedicate to a 3-6 months project. Otherwise it might just be a bunch of dribble.

To many chefs in the kitchen and you're going to have a bad time. (joke drum)

Hey, chefs in the kitchen... gamesalad. It works!

No seriously, this sounds like a great idea in theory, but it'll never work.

I tried this, it was going great then people got spammed by other people and people left. Do not make the mistake I did. (At least in my situation spriteattack gave some free work before it unraveled)
