iPhone Graphics Resolution

Hello All
I am newbie to gamesalad so sorry if it is a duplicated question, but i cannot find a clear answer anywhere ...
I just started to create my first game , my plan is to create a game that support iphone 3g/4/5 in the portrait mode ... i tried to create a 640X960 resolution 72 pixel/inch background on photoshop, create a new project with resolution independence checked and iphone portrait selected, create an actor with the created background and i dragged it to the scene and Wooops it is double the size of the scene !.
i am wondering what is the typical resolution and settings to create a Photoshop graphics for my game with the mentioned specs (support iphone 3g/4/5 in the portrait mode), thanks !

GameSalad sets the scene size to half of the iPhone 4‘s screen size so that it is supported on 3G and lower. You can just scale down your image in the actor. :)

To be clear.. import images at 2x, and GS takes care of the rest :)

Your actors need to be the actual display size and your art needs to be the retina size. So your 640x960 image needs to be on a 320x480 actor.

now to make @snapfirestudios comment a bit more understanding. you need to import your 2x sized art like you have made it and then drag and drop it onto the background actor in the actor window and GS will auto size your actor to half the image size.

Hope that helps clear some of the murky waters for you.

    Cheers

Thanks for the paraphrasing simplification. :P

thanks for the replies, here is what i did :
    1-creating 640X960 resolution 72 pixel/inch background on Photoshop
    2-importing the image
3-assign image to a new actor
4-drag the actor to the screen (GS didn't re-size it, it is now double the size of the screen)
5-re-size the actor manually to fit the screen

is that the right thing to do ?, i can see the graphics got a little fuzzy and sharp edges, is that normal ?

    thanks a lot , cheers :)
