Buy iPad mini now or wait for IPad mini 2?

Hello

So I decided that I need to buy an iPad mini for testing and general use.
The iPad mini has been out for 6 months and there is talk of the second one coming out.

So far they said something in April or august to September.
They also said They have or will ship 20% less then normal which some websites say bevause they are getting ready to launch the new one.

Should I be waiting or should I just get it that way at least I have one?

    Welcome to the game that Apple plays.
    It doesn't matter what you do, you will end up feeling like you have to get the next one regardless of which device you buy...
    Buy the current one, you will feel like you should have waited.
    Wait for the next one, Buy it, then the price drops, you will feel like you should have waited.
    Then the rumors of the next model start up, you will feel like you should have waited.

    Or just buy what you need, and eventually Apple will deem it obsolete and phase out support.

    My thoughts exactly, when I was thinking about getting an iPod touch 4gen I could wait five months before the new one was rumored to come out. I went with my gut feeling and bought it straight away. Turns out they didn't release any new iPod touches that year.

    Apple is very good at it for sure, but I don't want to buy one now and three weeks later they release a new one. I been told to wait for the better features when I went to buy one at jbhifi back in feb. He said should be march/april release.

    I just didn't know if anyone had heard otherwise or are lead to believe a month of release would make my life easier.

    @mounted88 haha I see that as being cool but not very practical.

    I would wait my man.... iI have recently read rumors that suggest there's an ipad mini with retina coming soon....

    Yep, wait (I can't wait for iPad mini with retina display, and ultrathin compact iPad 5 ;) )
    A bit unrelated, but Apple did a good job of making the vast amount of iPad 2 owners like me feel old. First the iPad 3, then *BOOM* the iPad 4 a few months later...but like I said, I'm just waiting on the iPad 5 ;)

    @Elfizm If it was me, I'd hang on and wait for the iPad mini 2, too...

    It's a long time to wait though :( haha

    Hopefully if apple continues it's tradition we saw the iPad 3 get released march or April so I could be in luck :)

    But there is also factors such as it could cost more ect

    The iwatch I know, I keep up with new stuff, same as the iTV.

    But I am waiting for the following:
    Apple iheart (hopefully comes with Bluetooth capitable with apple ieye)

    The apple iCar, but if it's anything like it's maps I am going to wait till they get all the bugs out before I drive it.

    The apple ifridge, because let's face it, I want to have a quick go on angry birds when walking past.

    The apple ichange, where I can change my appearance :)


    But seriously , as anyone heard that it might be released this April or 3Q

    Difficult choice for you, @Elfizm some people say April/May for the iPad mini 2, others Autumn... to wait or not to wait, that is the question... (as you well know, 'cos that's what you're asking!) :-)

    I've been waiting on the Apple iTV which has been "promised" for a few years now. Whether or not we see that by the end of the year or next year (or at all) remains to be seen... interesting to speculate though!

    Apple has not exactly been sticking to their typical release schedules. The iPad Mini also has not hit a annual lifetime cycle. Most of the rumors genertared about iPad mini 2 are not from the typical reputable sources. Most of the craziness is from online "tech annalists" (more like fan bloggers and armchair annalists) .

    Macnn, Macrumors and Appleinsider typically have had very good leads on upcomming tech, planned announcements and such.

    If you can hold out two months, there should be news for when it should be scheduled for release. If you can wait until fall (forever), you'll definatley get your next gen ipad mini. I'd say save your pennies and go for the next full size iPad if you can. Otherwise, just get a mini now and sell it and upgrade when the new one hits the market.

    @RP I agree. I just upgraded to an iPhone 5 and I'm already hearing about the 5S but not from those sources. I did hear one thing about it from Techno Buffalo. One of the rumors is that the 5S is supposed to have really good new features and not just camera, ram and cpu. If so them I'm going to be upset that Apple didn't just wait till the iPhone 6.

    Yeah, S models try to cram a little bit of next Gen. I've been sticking to S models so far. They don't disappoint. It'll be a while before we see a 6, unless they decide to trop S models for some reason.

    Ye could be right there, matey! (I mean about it being a popular app, not that you're not very good at pirate speak, if you get what I mean...) :-)
