Luckily my game is landscape but if it weren't I would assume Apple will reject any apps with non matching splash screens.
I'm sure the chaps will fix it shortly.
I recompiled Free ABC Songs with 0.8.5 but was rejected for the splash screen thing again. I only checked the two portrait orientations for all parts (scene attributes and publishing settings)
Hope that helps

I was using the 2 portrait rotations, set in both the publishing page as well as each individual scene.
Gave up on enabling "autorotate" on any screens since the GS splash screen won't autorotate, so we'll see if our app is approved this way. I'll keep this thread posted on the results...
"The iPad Human Interface Guidelines state that launch images should be provided for all supported orientations. The Free ABC Songs launch image is only displayed in one variant of the portrait orientation."
The key in your text is when apple says the launch image (Game Salad Splash screen) only supports ONE variant of the Portrait orientation - this means the spalsh screen is set to portrait up or portrait down only! You need to set it to BOTH portrait UP AND DOWN.
Its a simple setting, when you click publish to make your game, you will see a button called "ADVANCED" click this and there you will see tick box options for the orientation, just make sure you have ticked BOTH the portrait up and down, and then you will be fine.
Good luck

Every scene, I also set it to both auto-rotate for both portrait modes.
The other thing to do is ask for a ipad tester on here to check exactly whats happening to confirm if it is a rotating issue, You will have to get their details and create an ADHOC version of the app and also send them the provision cert, but your last response from Apple stated that the orientation for the start up was only working in one rotation i.e. portrait up only and NOT portrait down as well!
Also as a last resort if it is confirmed that it is working in portrait up and down, you can email back to Apple stating that your game does only work in portrait mode and does rotate up and down, and then it should get passed.
I can imagine your frustration, but you will get there in the end
Good luck
