COMPLAINT - Worst engine experience !!

edited April 2013 in Working with GS (Mac)
I just paid the fee for the Pro membership 1 week ago to get chocked when finding that I cannot publish games loaded with ads from a windows creator version !!!

And for me this means that I just lost my money and my time for making these games.
This is totally UNFAIR that I pay the fee then get chocked to find that I must own a mac to publish apps loaded with ads !!
I don't own a ****** Mac and I'm not gonna buy one just for your engine!, you must do a windows version that allows the users to monetize their games or even fix your advertisments that mislead me !!, I paid the fee as per your unreal advertisements that claims that I can monetize my apps using your engine but at the end this is not true !!, I just lost my money or I have to pay more 2000$ to buy a mac just for your creator to work.

I needed this only for publishing Android so I don't need a mac !

Fix this or pay the money back to windows owners, misleading your clients is not something nice!, just write that !@#$% in your website " IF YOU DON'T HAVE A MAC, JUST DON'T BUY THIS ENGINE BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GONNA EARN ANYTHING OUT OF YOUR GAMES!! ", beside that the APK's generated from you don't work for many Android devices.

Do something !!!!

    Amazing way to find resolution.

*Quick edit. An addendum, so that I'm not my usual mean black sheep self this morning:

I seeing this is your first post, no effort was made to inquire resolve this via user experience support, or via pro forums support. Bashing won't help matters. I know it can be frustrating, but this is not the way to go about resolving your issue (It does not look good on your part if you know what I mean). Give @SaladStraightShooter a message or include him in the topic.

    Use the support methods:

    Do something !!!!
OK: I'm off to make another cup of tea. ~O)

Wow that's a hell of a rant, maybe you should of did some research before you brought pro. Are you going to by a computer or anything else that cost a couple hundred dollars without doing research, I would hope not.

Oh and this comment got me the welcoming committee badge. So on that note welcome to gamesalad :-h

Am I missing something or doesn't Apple require their apps to be compiled on a mac. I could be way off base though.

@DeadlySeriousMedia - I think you would need the Application Loader...Unless I'm mistaken, Windows does not have that.

    did you read this :

@Deadlyseriousmedia I think he wants to make android games with windows creator and use ads in his games. From what he is saying it doesn't seem to be possible. That's what I got from it.

@mounted88 - mobclix doesn't work with windows creator?
  • alhussainsherifalhussainsherif Member Posts: 5

@deadlyseriousmedia I have no idea, it makes no difference to me. I'm using a Mac. I was just translating what he said for everyone else to understand better. ;)

    @DeadlySeriousMedia
yes it doesn't work with windows creator I had to install gamesalad on a friend's mac to publish the game with ads but I don't think this will be practical to do whenever I need to publish something

@alhussainsherif - Sorry, now i understand. However, the creator "Go Pro" page says this:

"Through GameSalad's partnerships, Professional developers have access to innovative methods of monetizing their apps, allowing them to capitalize on the wave of Free-to-Play game popularity. GameSalad partner PlayHaven provides developers with a fast "check-box" way to introduce lucrative ads in your game, with no intrusion to gameplay."

Everything else refers to "IOS in-app purchases" or "iAds".

I know it's somewhat of a technicality but it's there. I usually ask specifics on stuff from staff before purchasing.

I know it can be frustrating.

    So now I've got 2 conclusions :

1- I have to admit that this was my fault to follow the ads and pay without asking about it.
2- There is no any other way to feel satisfied from Gamesalad except buying a Mac, which means that I just lost these 300$.

    How great!

Or you can make great games and charge people for them. Instead of using ads and making it free.

Sorry man, look before you grab steal stab jump buy. ;)
Needless to say, it should be more clear to users who are about to buy Pro that this constraint exists.

@SnapFireStudios - Fully agreed. Perhaps a table breakdown between iOS/Android/Win8 so people can compare each platforms features.

A matrix of features vs. platform is sorely needed.
I've been pro for months, but I didn't understand what I was buying until after it was purchased as well.
(after a few months of looking at different game engines, I ended up deciding on GS on a sort of whim, mostly because I was using shiva3d, but they seemed defunct when I was trying to purchase and my game engine money was burning a hole in my pocket, then I got an email from GS.(#goodtiming))
But with the growing descrepancy between our available publishing targets, something that clearly states what works where would be helpful, and not just to prospective customers.

    Also...
COMPLAINT - The name of the thread is misleading... This isn't an engine problem.

In all seriousness, I have alot of complaints about GS.
I mentioned Shiva3D before... I was trying to buy pro after using shiva for several months, and didnt get answers on the forums, no response to my emails and 9 months later their website still is advertising version 2.0 in summer 2012...
sure, GS has their problems, but at least they visibly working to resolve them.

You don't need a mac. In fact, I use the MAC creator on my Windows pc and publish from the same. I have an intel based macbook that i bought specifically for creating and publishing, which i stopped using when i figured out how to do it all from windows. And then they released the windows version and i felt like an idiot for going through all this trouble. But it seems you would benefit from this approach, as well you can't import a mac creator project into a windows creator project, yet.

All you need to do is create and run a virtual machine running Mac OSX. That's it!
With this you can use mac OSX inside a window or full screen just like a piece of software or game. The best software for this is VMware workstation or fusion. You will then need a vmware image of mac osx 10.7+
    Voila! no more mac!!
    EVER!!!
    MUAHUAHUAHUA!!!

    image
Of course.. you will still be using a mac OS to create and design... T_T
But hey, atleast you aren't supporting apple by buying an overpriced pc with training wheels.

You realize you can just use http://www.macincloud.com and add in your ads to your project before you publish right? You don't have to buy a ******* mac just to use GameSalad you just have to have access to something that runs OSX so you can use the most recent update that has the mobclix behavior in it.

And man I'm not sure what your parents taught you about manners, but I can assure you the best way to get someone to blow you off when you have a problem is to come out swinging with "YOU STUPID MOTHER *******, YOU ******** ME OVER!!!!!!!"

For my first app I brought an old mac on ebay for $300 you can then release your game to the app store as well (why woudnt you if money is what your after its the biggest store!!) if your game is any good you will make the $300 + $200 for GS back with iads no problem. I made enough to buy a $2000 mac!
