Ubuntu and Gamesalad

I recently got a new computer and it had Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed on it already. I am not entirely computer savvy and the salesman that sold me the computer did not mention the operating system, but I failed to ask and just assumed it was windows. Anyhow, I had to get a new computer because my other one just died. Now I have been able to get 90% of my old programs to work. However I have not been able to get Gamesalad to work. Has anybody been able to get gamesalad to work with Ubuntu? I know most of the people on here are Mac people but I can't afford a Mac. My previous computer was using Windows Vista. I have tried to get both the Mac version and the Windows versions to work. Again I am brand new to Ubuntu so it may be an easy fix, I am just looking for some help with this.

Unfortunately GameSalad is only available for OS X and Windows :(

Not a Linux savvy person myself, but I think it's possible to run Windows on it using a virtual machine :)

Wine is your only chance. If you are successful in getting it running o a write up for it and post it on the forums so others with Linux can see how to use it.

I was going to mention CrossOver, but keep in mind that it cost money. So make sure it's compatible with GameSalad BEFORE you buy it! :)

So WINE does not run Gamesalad. I'm not sure why but I tried everything I could (which isn't much) and couldn't get it to work. I searched around a little about crossover and on their website there isn't anything about Gamesalad; so I sent them an email and am just waiting to hear back. The next thing I am going to try is a virtual machine. I'm a little wary because I am going to have to buy windows to run on the virtual machine and I am not happy about that. But a friend of mine has a VM on his computer and it runs windows just fine as well as all his windows programs. I am sure it will run gamesalad it is just buying windows that sucks.
I really like Gamesalad and wish they would come out with a version for Ubuntu (Linux).

I've used Wine, CrossOver, Parallels, etc. lots before. I have a Macbook Air, but I also have Parallels with Ubuntu, Windows XP, Windows 8, etc. When I saw this thread, I thought I'd try to get the Windows version of GS running in my Ubuntu VM just for fun. I tried Wine, couldn't get it working, tried PlayOnLinux, couldn't get it working, tried the trial version of CrossOver for Ubuntu, which had problems installing the .NET 4 framework, so I installed that separately in the same bottle, and then reinstalled GS in the bottle as well... and it still didn't work. So, I guess I'll be sticking with my OSX or Windows 8 versions :)
