Alternative to fruit when making fruit ninja

i want to make a fruit ninja style game and have made the basic structure but cant think of an alternative to fruit

has anyone got any ideas ?

Though I should have guessed someone else came to the same conclusion as me.

As far as a more serious answer, perhaps Cardboard Ninja? Like you slice up cardboard cutouts of ninjas.
