@HoneyTribeStudios that's great, it's good to network. Good luck with the game!
Cheers. Yeah I've been going to more dev events this year. They always bring a good crowd. Game developers tend to be really easy to talk to. And often have interesting ideas/opinions to share.
@HoneyTribeStudios yeah I'm pretty heavily in to twitter but I haven't really done any game dev networking in the real world, maybe I should change that, but that means putting trousers on )
Nice to see that Yam Yam got featured as New & Noteworthy (both iPad and iPhone) in the game section in the UK. Also in a few other countries, but as it's my home turf I like that one the most
So having Yam Yam featured in the games section in the UK store seems to have had a knock on effect, so now a bunch of the other European countries have made it N&N in Games too.
Here's a full list for anyone interested: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta , Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, UK.
"With so many similar sports simulators, physics puzzlers and adventure games being released for mobile recently, it’s rather unusual for a game to be released that doesn’t fit cleanly into the typical range of genres. Yam Yam: Puzzle Guardians by Honey Tribe Studios is one such game"
It's so cool when you see your game going out to people all around the world. Just think back to a few years ago. If you're in the UK or US would you ever think that people in Russia, or France or China or... wherever... would be playing a game you made? Especially if you have $0.00 budget for marketing (or anything else!)
Yam Yam is N&N in Games in 28 European countries this week. Made this cool promo pic using a site that @atxryan found.
Version 2.0 is out now. It has some big changes, the gameplay has been overhauled and feels quite different.
I've been working on these changes for a while. I felt the original had a cool and original gameplay mechanic but after the initial release it seemed like I hadn't hit the gameplay feel I was going for.
So I've been taking it to my local developer events here in London and getting a lot of other devs to play, watch how they get on with changes and then listen to their feedback. This collective of ideas has helped shape Yam Yam into it's current form.
The main things to be changed are:
The controls have been changed and simplified. It feels much more satisfying to hit those high arching shots now.
The challenge is more fun. You have to get 3 out of 3 to pass each level and the feeling of beating the level is much better.
There are some new graphics and some adjustments to the characters so the game looks better than it ever has.
Overall the gameplay experience is much smoother and more fun.
Yam Yam is featured in today's Apps Gone Free by App Advice
So it's currently free on both iOS and Android.
If you didn't play it yet, go do that...! The flick controls work really well and the gameplay feels very solid. It took a lot of iterations and updates to get it right but got there in the end.

Had the pleasure to beta test this game. Loved it!
Good luck my friend!

And thanks for that It's had even more changes since you tested it too. If you remember, originally the player could adjust the velocity of the ammo by flicking fast or swiping a long distance on the screen. What I found after some experimenting was that having a static velocity works much better for gameplay. So the velocity is set by the type of ammo, not by the player's flick gesture. Simplicity wins!

Was also quite amused to see that google auto translated the title on a Chinese site I came across to
"Yam yam: the mystery of the patron saint v1.0"
Maybe that's what I should call the sequel...
On more serious note - Shaz made a really unique, and good looking game, and I wish him all the best
