Beginner question- UI problem.

Hi. sorry super beginner question.
in Creator the window to the right that you can place your actors and backgrounds is really big and goes off the screen. Is there a way of zooming out to get the whole thing in view?

Hi @Skunkpuppy Drag the whole GSC screen to the left until you can see the bottom right corner. Then hover the mouse over that corner and you'll see a double-headed arrow, drag up and to the left to resize.

I think that's what you mean you're after... also this is for the Mac GSC, I don't know if it's the same for PC.

PS Welcome to the Forums! Best of luck with GameSalad Creator. :-)

Thanks for getting back to me. This resizes the window but still doesn't let me see the full (I don't know what to call it- 'art board, page) I resize the window to it's fullest but the box that you add all the assets and backgrounds is still larger than the viewable area.

There is currently no way to zoom out (or in) on a scene while editing it.

I am confused because every tutorial I look at they have the whole screen viewable..mine is massive?
I have a screen shot to show you that will show it better but can't figure out how to add it to this post?

You need to upload the screen somewhere (like dropbox) and provide a link to it in your comment.

Just upload it to imageshack, and post a link :)

You can, if you are a pro member. Then you will see "attach a file" button, under text box.

This is normal - the scene in the second image is probably much bigger than standard size screen. There is no way to zoom in/out. You have to scroll in order to place actors.

Hi again, @Skunkpuppy I see what you mean now....

drag the whole window over to the left by the GSC menu bar, as I said before, but this time you'll see a vertical slider on the right hand side. Move that up so you get more of the top of the screen, adjust the depth of the screen by the arrows as I said before.

Then hover your mouse over the dividing line between the Inspector&Library and the Preview area -- your mouse pointer will turn into a vertical ine with a horizontal arrow through it. Hold the mouse down and drag the divider to the left, so you see more of the Preview screen on that side as you want. (You can also resize the Inspector section with the Library section by the same method, except drag in between the double horizontal lines with a dot in the middle).

@Skunkpuppy You should be able to see the whole iPhone landscape scene (plus some off-screen area). In the first image, I see that. In the second image you posted, the scene has been widened significantly, so you'd need to scroll to see the rest.

You could always change your screen resolution (System Preferences-->Displays) and see if that helps.

What version of Creator are you using?

But I'm not convinced that's the problem. It looks like you extended the scene width to double (or more) the normal width.

OK, so starting a new project makes it normal again. But when I check and changed my old project to the same setting it is still big. Perhaps I'll just start again..wasn't too far in anyways and only practicing.
    Thanks for your help guys.

ok got it. went into devices screen size and it was crazy big. Done and solved.

Actually, I did post about something similar recently. If you start a new project with one platform (e.g. iPad Landscape) and then change the platform to something else (e.g. iPhone Portrait), the width and height of the scene do not change properly to fit the new platform. Maybe that's what you're experiencing. It started happening in 10.2.
