Special character \r not recognized on Android devices

Hi everybody

I have a weird problem when porting an App to Android.
In particular, text formatting of the special character \r seems not to work. The character \r gets simply ignored and not printed out as newline.
Also fonts are not displayed nicely but this can be acceptable.

I've tried with different android versiones (4.1.1, 4.1.2, 2.3.6) and different devices. All have the same behaviour.

Any idea how to fix this?
