That is funny. However, I feel more sad than hearty. It's really, really sad that peeps publish with no change to the original template. Granted, many games are just like the original template, but at least others take the time to edit and change some things around and pour some love into it. Adding new art and levels would be one example. *sigh*
It's a sad thing that happened with Zanda, but this is why you don't need to put bling in your templates (I really see no point in it unless you are willing to give that art away). Someone is going end up tossing out the rules we supposed to follow and use it however they can.
Just take a look at what POM did with our Zanda template (amazing work there) but yes it is a shame and a catch 22 again, would the templates sell with blocks for art...doubt it.
When we watermark we get a string of unhappy customers, guess we cant really win and have to trust that 99.9% of our customer do change it.
@deepblueapps.com put a disclaimer on the bottom of the templates saying something like. "Reusing this art will cause legal action" or something along those lines.

@mounted88 No, it's literally a feature of the template that art and music can be used by the buyer; maybe something in there should say "please don't publish this as-is"
Honestly I would have had a really difficult time learning a lot of the things I know now if the DBA templates didn't exist. Most people are decent, they learn and build from the templates but there will always be a few people that pull this kind of stuff.
Horrible misuse of the great template by DeepBlueApps.com, though I must admit that the IGN "review" was really funny How that app could be approved is also a bit strange in itself (did the reviewer only look at the surface for a quick 1-2 min review..).
Thanks for the support guys, I remember when someone released this as is after a few days of us releasing as a template and I think it got featured?
Apple should test more but I would hate to have the workload of the testers tbh and some things will slip through the net.
I'm far too trusting I guess hoping people would have the same morals as myself but alas a small minority seem to think sod it I will make a quick killing not thinking about something that's very important to us...reputation.
They will do themselves harm by releasing our templates "as is" in the long run because once bitten twice shy as they say and when people are spending real money on uncompleted games they will hopefully remember the company and stay well clear.
On the plus side a lot of games made with our templates have had features, some front page but the developers put some extra work in so deserve the success.

Sometimes that is what reviewers do, spend a minute and approve it
I really don't think Apple even cares if a game is crap or a rip off it seems to me there only checking for button operation and crash issues or the user interface not the actual playability of the game which is why theres so much shovel ware on the app store.

Oh my just looked in the App Store, this person has quite a few templates just published without changing anything. It's a shame
