Is there a way to use the accelerometer in development mode via simulation?

I am wondering if there is an easy way to be in development mode programming for accelerometer and testing without publishing and porting to the iPhone?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Not that i have seen. Nearly all macbooks do have accelerometers (and API access), so it would be nice if game salad would take input from this.

I doubt this will ever work in GS, but for straight xcode this works great.

    Thanks, SpaceNeedle

I've got a Mac Mini, so I was actually thinking of a simulation that would work for all, something like while you're in the developer mode if you code for accelerometer, you can use "Command+L, (or R, U D)" to give a quick test. Sort of like when you use Touch and still the mouse cursor works, but is not the ultimate controller when published...

Maybe GS devs will see this and implement?

    Cheers!

You can test it instantly on the device with the GS Viewer app. No need to publish it.

What is the GS viewer app?

You get it when you buy the GS license. The orange button at the top of the page should say Manage Portfolio (if you're logged in). If it says "Make iPhone Games" click it and it should change to "Manage Portfolio". Sometimes the button acts up.

From there you can download the GS Viewer XCode project.
You will need to build it through XCode.
Follow the instructions on that page EXACTLY to get it to work.

That will let you test your games instantly and wirelessly to a device.

When you launch the App on your device, a new button automagically appears next to the green preview arrow in GameSalad Creator that says "Preview on iPhone". You can test on as many devices as you own.

It is absolutely one of the coolest features of GameSalad.

Oh. But I cannot do that if I've installed the beta OS 4 on the iPhone, eh?

    No, it still works.

But it does work with the iPad, and it is pretty cool!

    Thanks FMG!

I think that XCode no longer recognizes my iPhone (actually iPod Touch)

Yes, there's an iPad Viewer and an iPhone/Touch Viewer.
The iPhone one works with both OS 3.0 and OS 4.0.

Use the Organizer window in XCode. That should show your devices.

I'm not really familiar with XCode though.

Maybe I would have built the viewer earlier (before upping to Beta 4) it would have still worked, but I think now I can't use the device as a developer unit, since it is not on an allowable OS version.

    Thanks for your help, though!

    Cheers!

I'm not sure. I have seen the GS Viewer working on an iPhone with OS 4 running on it.
