stop background from moving in certain instances

in Working with GS (Mac)
My game play background currently moves when touch is pressed. The problem I am having is when I unpause the game by touching the "x", the game play background will immediately move to where I pressed the "x" to close the pause screen. Any ideas on how to close the pause screen without my game play background moving to that location?
