How much have you made with your apps?

So I was wondering, for you pro members (and maybe even free), how much money have you made off of ads, downloads, etc? Also, how long did it take you to make this amount?

I don't need exact numbers and I'm not even asking you to share your totals, but I was wondering if developing apps with GameSalad is rewarding enough to continue and maybe even upgrade to pro.

There are a few people here who are full time GameSalad developers.

But let me tell you- this question has been asked a lot, especially recently, and you are not going to get a pleasant response. Many people consider this private information, and not something to be asked about.

That's what I figured, and that's fine. I respect their privacy.
I just decided I wanted to make an app, and stumbled across GameSalad and thought it would be cool if just using GameSalad would be enough to support a small business designing apps.

It's definitly doable. You just need a killer idea with the knowledge of the software to make it a great experience for the user. Don't expect to make a fortune off your first app. But if you keep at it, it's definetly possible.

Alright cool. I am working on my first app now, but am stuck with actors checking with a table before switching (http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/56475/actors-checking-tables#latest). My plan is to finish that app, possibly upgrade to pro, publish to apple, and then make more apps.

    Thanks for answering.

Game developing is a very competitive business. Most people here make games because it's a passion and passion leads to hard work and great ideas. I would say make games if you love it and the money will follow. If you're here to make money on games you'd be better off buying a lottery ticket.

I am not planning to strike it rich or anything, just breaking even would be nice.

Honestly there is no way to tell if you'll make anything. This business is a crap shoot to be totally honest. Even people who have great games don't sell. There is just no way to know other than make a game and publish it and see. basically when you become an independant developer you are really starting you own business and with any small business there is risk. No risk, no reward is the motto just the nature of being an entepenuer. This is why so few people start a business can't handle the risk. One has to be able to deal with failure which the majority of small business fail in the first 5 years.

@FryingBaconStudios Thanks. I am just doing this in my free time. Maybe I'll be able to make a business out of it some day, but that's not my plan right now.
