Welcome, If I can add my 2cents.....if you are looking to just get a game on the marketplace then do what you will. If you enjoy what you do the do what you do. If you intend to make money....enough to call making games your job, the be original and create a game that is not a clone but a fresh and original idea, and let the world decide your fate.

Hi @ironDan. I never used a template for PetRun. I know that the idea behind PetRun isn't new, but it was my first app and I wanted to do something achievable without using a template.

Also, I'm 13, so I'm not even sure if this will be my job.

Thanks for the advice though :)

OH wow, hahhaa. PetRun is a great game, I could only have dreamed of making a game like that when I was 13. I was punching basic programming on a commodore 64 saving it to cassette tapes back when I was your age. Pong and Space Invader knockoffs where the bomb back then and anyone who could make a packman or mouse run game was a programming god of the times....

I have to say I am hugely hurt with games that go into the app store on both Android and IOs that are knockoffs of each other these days. If I see one more person knock off Angry Birds just by changing the graphics to a bunch of cats I am going to freaking loose it: as well as download one of @tshirtbooth templates and claim they spent a year developing his code into a new "original" game.

My personal goal is to always do stuff from scratch and not knock everyone else off. I encourage others not to trace your next game, but do something out of the box that would make even @jaime_c send you an email asking how the hell you did that???

Much love to all those true leaders of game design (including @iprasad) , maybe more will be encouraged by your rolemodelness and make it happen, Original style.
