Anyone here getting an OUYA?

I had some extra cash sitting around in PayPal, so I figured this would be a nice treat to spend it on. I'm really interested to see how support for this thing goes, and hopefully I can tighten up my skills and actually develop for it.

    @ShmirlyWhirl

    First GameSalad has to support it before you can develop for it ;)

    I have been thinking about it. But I will wait until wintertime. I am also thinking about getting a raspberry.

    @Chakku

    You say that as if GameSalad is the only development platform. It just happens to be the easiest/quickest route for simpler projects.

    Everyone else: I've heard about the Rasberry Pi, but haven't really checked in to it. From what I understand, its just a small, incredibly cheap, linux box? What do they intend to do with it?

    Yep. I've supported them on kickstarter in a hope that GS will add support for OUYA.

    I have a OUYA. I supported the kickstarter in hopes of building Gamesalad games for it... were Gamesalad to share the enthusiasm and support it. But, alas I was wrong. At $100 it is no big loss and maybe we will get lucky with support eventually.

    Looks like I'm going to pick one up. I wanna play with the proprietary Ouya sdk and Unity. I've got an old project that would be a better match for this platform. #1 because it will be a mature title (language), #2 I would like the interface to include a controller (going to be a little bit before we get the official support from apple).

    I'm pleasantly suprised by the amount of support Ouya has gotten. Even if it is ill fated, it will be a nice toy and usefull for developement needs.

    Yeah. The Apple TV alone could serve as a great gaming contender. I hope they make a move on the console area gaming market with what they already have available. It seems silly not to.
    They just need a darn standard supported controller, the rest is all there, just needs some refinement.

    I picked up my Ouya today. Boy, these are hard to find in the LA are right now. I had to travel 15 miles to go get it. It was the last one. While I was waiting in line, there were calls still coming into the store seeking Ouyas. Good thing I had them hold it. Now there is not one available for 30 miles.

    Gotta say. Pretty nifty. The interface is kinda uuugh. UI sounds get distorted intermittently. Nothing an update can't fix. There is some nifty games for it though and the free trial delivery method is pretty cool.

    These have been selling surprisingly well. It's open territory for devs.

    The Ball is hella good.
    The Bard's Tale is a classic and runs on the Ouya very nicely.
    The Amazing Frog is cute as a Pain-like game.

    Some others don't run so great. I was disappointed with Ravensword's performance.

    There were a few games that would not even run. I have not tried removing and reinstalling them though. There is a lot of room for Ouya to improve. The interface really stinks and the design of the UI with cropping BG text (while done intentionally) looks unintentional.

    A great page for links to everything on Ouya development.

    Lame thing with this Ouya, buttons get stuck under the controller bezel. Not kewl.
    Screwed me up in some classic games. I know it will screw me up playing a classic style arcade shooter I want to make for it. There are a few games using the same keymappings and they don't work so good. Most noticeable are movements to the right.

    I have an OUYA but haven't had too much time to play with it yet. It's actually the reason I'm now developing a game with GameSalad. I know there may be no way to get it on the OUYA, at least any time soon, but my 7 year old saw the "make" option, asked me about it, and here we are. I like the system, but the controller lag is a real problem, at least on the games I've tried.

    I have one, I like it. I have had a decent amount of fun with a few games and the $99 is a great price.
