Just got a call from "Gamesalad" where someone asked to publish my game?

There was this childish voice on the line who said that they liked my game very much and would like to publish it. How does he/she know my phone number and what my game even is? The number on caller id is 685-5.

    This sounds like a scam but I'm just worried whoever this individual is does not have my game file.

    Is your game on play store? Because you might have entered you number on there, and it's visible to everyone.

    No. I never published my game. I feel like this may be a prank call, but whenever I try to call this number back it says it doesn't exist :0

    I would just chalk it up as a prank and keep tight grips, on your property

    This is Why you the phone number doesn't exist maybe...
    But there are virus that could check everything you are doing on the computer, right? Maybe that's way he knows that you are doing a game?

    @Zenith_Gameworks

    Assuming you're using the Mac creator, as in you're using a Mac, the chances of that virus is pretty slim.

    That sounds suspiciously like someone hacked into GS' database of customers. Something similar happened to me when LivingSocial was hacked.

    A lot of hackers use very low tech means of gaining your property, i wouldnt be surprised if someone found your phone # by using google search or something.
    Everyone is always worried about viruses for good reasons but hackers will use things like this as well. Thanks for the heads up tho, this is a good warning because if it dosnt work on someone chances are they might try it on someone else.
    A Head Chef might want to send out a email or post about hackers on gamesalad. This would be good info for others to not get caught in a trap.

    With all due respect @kietz, isn't the most probable explanation a prank call? There is no evidence that hacking was involved. And asking GameSalad to spam everyone with warnings about hackers is a bit unnecessary. People either take precautions with regard to phishing/viruses/etc. or they don't. I don't think they need to be told to do so.

    That's going a bit overboard. Common sense would tell you the method and process of this call was a prank. There are simply too many ways to verify if the source is legitimate (which you are responsible/sensible for doing) BEFORE jumping on a witch hunt.

    I might be wrong but if you have a website can't someone get all your info there if unprotected with a simple Domain search.

    Possibly but that has nothing to do with hacking, especially if the information is available to the general public. Gonna go ahead and close this.
