Image stretching?

TomCoffeeTomCoffee Member, PRO Posts: 175
...someone mentioned that image stretching (or scene stretching?) would be coming to GameSalad soon... I'm about to start rebuilding all my apps in HD for universal device use... how would stretching work? Should I hold off rebuilding all my image files until I know more?

Stretching does exactly as it says. Say you have an iPhone game @ resolution 480x320 and you want to fit it to another screen, like iPad @ 1024x768. Stretching would make the 480x320 fit to 1024x768.

    Positives:

    - Easy to do

    Negatives:

    - Aspect ratio is changed resulting in distortion of all objects. Looks like crap!

    Recommended:

    - Don't use stretching. Read this instead:

Actually it almost always looks great!! the only thing that is ever really distorted in a bad way is perfectly round actors. and even then it doesn't take much work to make it still looks nice. I am look forward to the Stretch to fit option coming back to GameSalad its going to make UB so much more useful.

@TomCoffee I recommend you make one set of art at iPad retina size then no matter what future UB options you choose you will have large enough art to fit the device. You can always size the art down but you cannot properly size it up.
