Company Questions

Hi guys, so I am new to the whole company part of this...so I have a few questions!

1) I notice everyone has a logo, where should I get this made, because I cannot make art!

2) I need a website made, do you recommend making one myself on something like Weebly or getting one made? If I should get one made, can any of you guys make it or do you know anyone willing to make it. I will pay, I just don't want to pay too much incase I decide to change the name.

So thanks for the help in advance! I just got here, and already love how awesome this community is!

Seeing how this is positioned I must ask. You mentioned company, so are you registereing a legal company name in your state? (or another depending on type and needs).

If it's just you, and there is no state involvement it's not a company. Just resgister with Apple (if iOS and Mac OSX is your focus). Otherwise, there are tons of graphic designers that make logos professionaly, or you can comb through threads here for someone to take up the task.

There are plenty of options for websites. Hosting services provide services to create pages for you (they even provide free templates for creating your own site easily enough), or you can a more personalized site designer if a professional company site is what you are looking for. If you feel up to the task, there are web design apps like good ol Dreamweaver out there.

I got your pm @bluemoonstudios and @RP thanks so much for the details! I didn't mean company as registering it with my state, just what all you guys have. I will hopefully get this done soon!

I think Fry is probing to find out if you are of legal age before even going any further. There are plenty of users on the forums that are under 18, thus kinda wasting our breath discussing these matters (there's a bit of a trend of people that don't take information and advice seriously are only looking for "I got an App on the Appstore bragging rights").

Now if you are serious and are looking to register as small business and claim your income you can check with your local town/city hall about a DBA (doing business as) or a Trade name certificate * this is different depending on where you live, but essentially a DBA and a Trade name are one and the same. The next big step is a LLC, but focus on getting yourself set up with all the basics first.

A DBA or trade name should cost around $5.00. You will need to check with your state though about taxes associated with it. Some states like Connecticut are murder with they way they tax stuff, even for the smallest little business and they will tax you on all your available business resources (including desks, computers printers etc. on a yearly basis and continue to do so as it depreciates). Other States simply don't care.

Simply check with your town/city hall website. A lot of this data is there. You can also visit their offices and have questions answered there. Some searches online for related topics of starting my own small business (DBA/trade name) in your state. There should be plenty of hits for sites where this topic has been discussed by folks that have gone through the process, their experience, advice and issues thy had with it.
