I haven't used mobclix. I make less with iAd but I can determine which free apps are under performing and drop them/tweak them in hopes of earning more and quickly see the results. Playhaven pays more but I don't have a clue which apps perform well on it and can't do anything but put them out there and hope for the best.
iAds I am using and it is OK. Playhaven I plan to adpot. Mobclix seems to work OK but I am VERY worried about them paying. In fact I plan to dump them.
The real issue here is that Admob is missing from the list and no matter what anyone says it works and they pay the money they owe.
iAd = pays poorly and only on iOS Playhaven = no dashboard to view and is just too mysterious (still only for iOS currently right?) Mobclix = doesn't pay
Seems to me we need another option entirely. Preferably one that pays decently. Works on iOS and Android. We are able to go on that ad networks site to view our own dashboard (so we can view our own stats). Preferably one that actually pays its developers. Really not to much to ask if you think about it.
If playhaven had a dashboard I would use it in more of my games. iAd has done well for me. Mobclix is terrible. About 1/10 the cpm of iAd - on Android its 1/50 of iAd (comparing android version with ios version of same game).
Here are the problems I see for each -iAd - Terrible Fill Rate, only iOS, Only a handful of countries -Mobclix - Bad eCPM, Paying issues- -PlayHaven - No reporting, somewhat delayed payment ( 5 months).
I hate to say it but admob looks like a great option all around. Even better would be the ability to backfill. Display iAd, but when there are no ads, display admob.
Only ever used iAds so far... easy to see how its performing... easy to integrate... they pay... you may not get as much per click/view but "it just works".
@StormyStudio.com thats what i like about iAd. It's simple and does all the work for you. You aren't left wondering what you will get paid or if you will get paid.
Like everything Apple.. Its made to "just work" as Stormy Said, I'd highly recommend it, I made quite a bit of money last year from One of my Corona Utility apps through iAD
@FryingBaconStudios Speculation. nobody here has had mobclix implemented long enough to get to the point where they should pay you. But if you check other forums, it's clear its very difficult to get a payment. as sss said, there are class action lawsuits against them.
Ah yeah was just reading about that. Too bad. We'll I'm sure Gamesalad will work out a deal with someone. I think the licensing cost for some services are an issue for GS.
@FryingBaconStudios What do you mean by licensing cost? It seems to be fairly straightforward. With such a large user base, GameSalad would be an attractive target for any advertising network. GS just has to do it through them, and get out of the way as a middleman.
This was a comment SSS made. Neither you or I are lawyers or making these kind of business decisions. What is your business experience in making these kinds of deals? You act like oh no problem but from my business experience deals are never that easy.
Okay so if you took the time to read the TOS of say admob. You would see it is against TOS for GS to add their code into their software as they sell it. So basically if they want to implement it they have to go make a deal. So now that I've show you talk about things you know nothing about. Chill out..gezzz

@FryingBaconStudios It's funny because Stencyl, Corona, and Unity all have the ability to implement Admob. And if you would read the T&C carefully, you would see "Other than distributing content via the AdMob SDK, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Services or included software, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of that software, unless laws prohibit those restrictions or you have our written permission. So it's definitely possible because GameSalad is distributing content via Admob.
Probably. But it seems clear to me that it's possible although I don't have an extensive legal background. Though the odds of Google lawyering up against GameSalad for developing a plugin that would only benefit Google is ridiculous.
How do you know that? You're guessing. I'm sure GS has to approach them as their embedding the code in a software product they sell and that is distributed as a tool. This I would imagine is a different proposition form adding it to a game. As I imagine the license Google issues is an individual license, this is where the line becomes blurred. Maybe GS signed an exclusive with Mobclix in their contract. I'm sure there are reasons other than we don't want to give you this. And I don't expect GS to alert me to all the ins and outs of their business dealings as I know I wouldn't give out that info if I was them either. I respect their autonomy to conduct business. f I don't like their product or services, I will go else where. This is my right as a consumer, choice not demanding to know their business deals.
I mean no offense, you talk a good game but how much business experience do you have managing or running a company with large numbers of employees and 7 figure gross revenues? Just so we're clear, I have such credentials.
@FryingBaconStudios of course I'm guessing. Think about how much of a pain in the a** everything would be if we had to know in fact. No speculation allowed. I mean come on, do you really expect someone to know the future? Because it's impossible if you haven't figured it out.
I'm not demanding they release anything. I just want them to know that I would be happier if they put in Admob.
Are you telling me that all Admob plugins are illegal?
All I'm saying is that GS should implement Admob. Not that they must, but that they should.
Guys I know this isn't my business and you can tell me to clear off if you like, but in reality this isn't for any of us to debate. GS has stated that admob isn't going to happen. We all want it, but none of us knows what's going on in the meeting rooms at GS headquarters, and I'm sure if they've pulled the plug on supporting admob then they have solid reasoning to do so; we're not going to change their minds here by playing lawyer )
I'm honestly not sure, they didn't say its unlikely, they said it's not going to happen. To me that's pretty final. But you never know enough protesting might prove me wrong, I just can't see it happening based on everything they've said.
probably because their hands are tied by a contract exlusive with mobclix. No amount of shouting will void the contract. I know SSS said they do contracts year to year so I imagine when the contract is up they will add others. Watch.

It is not speculation. I haven't been paid by Mobclix in 4 months thus far.
