Developer Name

Looking for some advice on submitting my app:

I'm trying to find out if there's any way that I can prevent my personal name from showing up in the app store (eg. submit an artist name instead). From what I've read so far, it seems that only legal names will show up but I wanted to clarify.

I don't really want to go through the hassle of creating a legal entity (I'm a student), however I am uncomfortable with having my personal name show up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

you can change your 'display name' or use 'company name'. no legal hassles in there if you take a personal account.

Last time I checked this was only partly effective, as the personal name still appears in some places such as on the purchaser's iTunes receipt. This may have changed though since I last dealt with a personal account, just something to check for.

    Thanks,

The main thing I'm concerned about is having my name appear at the top of my screen in the App Store. I'd be fine with it appearing on receipts.

If I use a different 'display name' would my real name still appear on the screen under that?

I was under the impression it would only ever show your real name, and if you wanted to change display name, it had to be a business name (this could be you 'trading as' a company name) - doing so would require a business bank account etc, proof of the companies existence. I'd love to be wrong on that, so if anyone has any concrete info it would be much appreciated!

Really what I'm looking for is something like this, where the Seller name can be my real name, but there is a different company/artist name listed at the top. Is this possible?

I did it by making sure I had a legal llc and register as a developer as my corporation and not personal. Then everything comes up as your company name. You have to give them your EIN number and copy of your business stuff from the secretary of state.

Thanks, but I am looking for something that doesn't require registering as a company.
