If it has been for sale for a week without a single sale you may want to pull it and resubmit it so that it shows up on the newly released list again and give out your promo codes right away to see if you can get it into the top 100 for a game subcategory. You have a very small window to get the ball rolling before it is lost amongst the 100,000s of other apps. You should also use touch arcade or other similar sites to announce and promote your game.
also -1 sales on my other game. how is that possible?
Now keep in mind you havent played your game or know anything about it
What would make you download it instead of plants vs zombies (or any other popular app y you are competing with)
Next think about how many apps you download that you know nothing about... and pay for
If you download stuff in that manner what makes you download one app and not the one next to it?
I dont have these answers but these are the factors that matter
I've just asked my partner (33) and our 3 kids (16, 12, 9) To all locate your respective games on their iPhones (iPod for the youngest!). And give me their opinions.
If you can accept some constructive criticism from four complete strangers (I won't give my opinions as I fully appreciate the effort it takes to develop games and apps) - (unless anyone asks for my opinion ;-), and I honestly do not mean to offend.
Here is there 'condensed' feedback....
@DanlBryant: [Orbliterate]
Game looks good (in App store), but the Icon looked 'dull'. My 12 year old looked the game up on YouTube, and thought it looked brilliant, but didn't want to download it because: A. He didn't know if there was any music in the game like on YouTube? Is there a cool music track in the game? and B - err, the Icon looked 'dull'. Shallow feedback I know, but thats 4 real life case examples.
@MarkJohnson: [gravepegs!!]
None of them would download the App based on the Icon. I know, I know "it's just an Icon", but to them it did not look very inviting. Also, my 2 youngest boys were very confused by the description and didn't have a clue what you did in the game or what the game was. They both said "What's Pachinko"??. Plus what? and Minus where when?
Finally, all my kids think real long and hard before spending their pocket money on apps. To that end they all noticed your game was £1.19 and all said it was way too much. Again I know £1.19 isn't much, but all of a sudden anything above 59p to them needs to be the next Call of Duty!.
Both of your games haven't been in the App Store for long, so do give it time.
Again, I do not want to offend anyone, you've both spent a great deal of time and effort in creating your games - I thought the feedback above may provide some insight into the mindset of a broad (ish) range of youngsters.

please use and give it a shot if all are used let me know and i will post more.also let your kids know pachinko is like plinko game on price is right,thanks again
The only decent sales I have gotten have come from having a lite version out in advance. I also use touch arcade to give out promos (along with this forum) - they will get used quickly and you will probably get a few reviews through that site.
Thinking like a 12 year old when it comes to marketing is key! Maybe that's whyu I have had a bit of success with Xtreme Mountain Busing!
Marketing is really like 80% of it once you have a descent game
You figure there is a lot of competition in the app store so you gotta get people to your app
I agree with that the majority of downloads come from the lite version
To be honest i dont even really look at how my game is doing (not to say i dont know)
I put everything into my lite version only
I have advertising through buyselladds.com and and have 13 adds in google since it is cheap and only pay per click
My goal is to get my free app in the overall top 10
I know what percentage upgrades. It is over 10%
If i can get that free app up the rest should align
Plus it is easier to drive people into a free download
If they dont upgrade then you can blame the game.
Here are some examples of some of the marketing i am doing.
My adds show up on a lot of sites but this one pops up the most
http://justanotheripadblog.com/
chose it because it was cheap when it was new now its popular and the price remains
Here is a contest i am running which is driving around 100 downloads per day

Again i only focus on the free version
Its an easier sell and i know my conversion is consistent and pays off
