Hey Everyone:

I joined the community yesterday, and receive a lot of wonderful responses to my posts! I have gone through the community, and played with lots of games people posted. There are a lot of wonderful games! I was wondering, who has the most downloaded game? And/or, how many downloads have people are received on their games?

Well I'm stil a rookie and starting off with simple word games to get an understanding of logic, etc.

My two GS games on the Apple appStore.
Word Tap Tap / HD has about 2000 downloads after being live for 50 days.
Nonagon Slide / HD has about 500 downloads after being live for about 2 weeks.

I saw the gamesaad.com/creator/stories, but it doesn't say how many times the games were downloaded...

Wow: impressive that Doodle destroy was download over 1 million times... lol (As a 14-year-old student in Kuwait, Aalzanki used GameSalad Creator to build Doodle Destroy in 3 days. His first foray into independent game development has generated over 900,000 downloads, and he's even been featured on CNN!)... 14 year olds' 3 day application was downloaded over 900,000 - impressive!

Download you get depend on a lot of things. Quality of game, game type, marketing, word of mouth. What I can tell you is getting a game noticed and I'm talking about a top notch game is hard very hard. Prepare for a reality check when you release your first game there is a lot of good competition out there.

PetRun did much better than I expected, receiving 1000 downloads on the first day. I now have about 4000 downloads, the reason being that I switched to making PetRun cost 99c.

Ah, one of these threads. ;)

Penguin Pounce gets about 9,000-11,000 downloads per day when I set it free.
Some of my others free full games got around 300-350 downloads a day for quite long time. Of course, new games come out and downloads slow downloads. Like @FryingBaconStudios already mentioned, it depends on a lot of things.

@braydon. You wrote: "Penguin Pounce gets about 9,000-11,000 downloads per day when I set it free" specifically PER day. Hence, how many days were people downloading 11,000 copies?

Don't expect those kinds of numbers as we'd need to see the quality of your game. You should be more worried about making a quality game first and the numbers take care of themselves.

It's hard to get 11,000 copies downloaded in one day when free. Believe me.
I've only had one day where I got 11,000 downloads. The next day it went down to 8,000, and kept falling as the days went by. The trick is not let that number get to 0. ;)

There are plenty of amazing games that when set free don't get nearly that many downloads. It's all about the kind of game, the time of year, and when other huge businesses aren't releasing any new games.

Those are all good numbers, I would have to check (it has been a while) but I don't think I have had a game break 1,000, close though.

My new game, Tap Bouncer has more than 35,000 downloads; while most of my other games have about 15,000 downloads each. I've never expected my games to get as many downloads as they have. But, I have found that setting your apps release date manually has given me a large increase in downloads. As @Braydon_SFX said, time is key for large downloads.

There are a looooot of such topics, with the same questions. Sales are only based on the quality, idea, and polish of each game. You can earn nothing, you can earn millions. It's all up to you.

    Closing this.
