Posting discussions in pro only forum = less help

I've built many games and apps in GameSalad for the company I work for; that company account is a Pro account.

I browse and post in forums with my personal account. My personal account is currently not Pro as I'm not actively making apps on my own.

That being said, could be a good idea for peeps seeking help to post a non-Pro thread where the audience is larger. A larger audience = a higher probability of obtaining a solution.

Why a pro only "Working with GameSalad" thread even exists is beyond me... Just my two cents :)

I've never really understood it either.

Yeah I always thought the pro only forum was kinda dumb. But we had a few "top" devs really pushing and many following thier lead for it. So gs gave in. Seems dumb to me. I honestly have never ever made a pro only post and don't ever notice that I'm replying to a pro only post.

I think the theory was that the pro only section would not be so full of the common redundant questions like how do I post a picture on the forums or how do I make my actor have a picture and move left and right. But in reality there is so many kids who's parents drop the insanely cheap $299 on pro for them it doesn't really change anything IMO.

I think it was a response to the power users wanting a private forum not being bothered by newbies etc.
It may not be working as imagined for most people. I know I do not even look at the Pro or not when posting....maybe its time is up?
GS may have stats on its usage etc. if it is worth even looking at them.

Yep, no need at all for the "Working With Gamesalad" section.

The original idea was to hopefully have a place to showcase games and ideas in development which were not viewable by only pro users as they pay for their service and would be less likely to steal ideas et... I think the issue is nobody trusts anyone with all the copying that goes on. The hope was to help Pro developers brain storm and get detailed help for their complex ideas. It never took off and I think mainly because of trust issues of sharing novel ideas. I know I am guilty of this myself as there are some code concepts I invested long hours to develop such as complex AI and extreme Multi touch, that I would like to keep for myself.

"Posting discussions in pro only forum = less help" - I believe that was my argument when it was suggested! ;)

    Plus, what @tenrdrmer said!

I don't see an issue with the Pro forums.

Maybe the support sections are not as helpful or happen as rapidly as you expect, but why not keep those general if it is a burning issue.

In many of the threads, it's kinda nice not having point-monkies chiming in, off topic comments, totally incorrect answers or opinionated post. Also, like Mr. Bacon said, there is a level of disclosure that we can "control".

I think that at 625, the Pro Working With Game Salad section is getting its fair share of use.

I've wanted to post this same point of view for a while now, but I kept holding back for fear that I'd just be told to go and get a pro account and stop whining!

I've lost track of the number of basic easy questions I've seen posted that I could resolve in a heartbeat, but I can't respond to them as they're pro only. It's frustrating. Post simple questions in the public forums!

I've had this point of view since the Pro Forums were announced.
