Social Media tools - critical for GS going forward

As a total coding nOOb, I have been playing around with GS for almost a year. However, the one key thing that is currently stopping me from going pro is the inability for GS to work with things like Facebook.

I dont just mean the 'Likes' or creating a rule to display your facebook page, I mean the tools that can turn your game into a huge success - Interacting with your friends - posting your high scores, having GS talk with the users facebook page to display updates and achievement unlocks.

I havent seen this done yet, or have I missed something? Any guidance would be great!

Social media critical for a game engine/toolkit going forward? Yeah, I can see some room for improvement, but are you gaming or on Facebook all day? Some of what you are describing is more of a marketing aspect here. That is stuff you can do on your own via various social media apps. Even with more social media tidbits, it will not mean your game is a success or that these features will ever be used. realistially it may get used once by family and friends and a handful of impressed gamers that will leave a congratulatory comment or something similar. Unless your game is very robust, like a lenghty RPG, or point and click adventure where folks will discuss tips to and strategy or puzzle solving help, again it will likely be more general feeback or a like-generator.

Here's the kicker, you can already integrate links, such as to your Facebook page. Plenty of people have already done this.

Dont forget Google Plus! It is rapidly growing and the community there is second to none! It is really an excellent place to get your apps recognised

I agree, but it seems the new "Social Network Post behavior" is stuck on nightly releases forever.

@RP‌ I'm not sure he means using social media to run a community page for a game. More like being able to integrate to get a list of your facebook friends who are/aren't playing the game, to be able to send them challenges, to be able to see what your facebook friends have scored and try to beat it etc.

It's that weird area where marketing and game design blur - adding social features to a game not only makes it more enjoyable to play the game itself but can also act as a marketing tool, getting new people in.
