Hmm, submitted Quake Builder today, have set the release date to 7 days away to make sure I come up nice and cleanly in new releases and to allow time to give out some early promos, put some videos on the website and you tube, build up a little hype on toucharcade...

    any other sites recommended?

So So So eagar to see how it sells!!!

Oh, so setting the release date is a big deal? I set it to the date i originally applied.
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
erm.... I'm not 100% sure but I did read before about people missing out on being showcased in the new releases page due to the release date being to soon.

Probably being over cautious putting it a whole week a way...

Anyone else know for sure the best way of setting it...(otherwise search the forum for old posts)

I plan to release on Sundays or Mondays from now on...
Releasing on Friday or Saturday means you have less than a day on the new release front page...a Sunday or Monday release gives you a shot of having multiple day exposure....since everyone wants a Thursday - Sat. release and few want a Monday release. My sales are better anyway on Mondays than on Saturdays.

Very important to change to the date they approve when they approve

If they approve on say we'd and you have set to the following sat

You show up on Saturday and miss the first page because your release date is set to when they approve

Just a heads up so you don't get screwed out of the first page

    @James:

I've only been screwed over the first page when I change the date the very last minute, but if the game is accepted on say, wednesday, and I have the date set to saturday "ahead" of time, then I always show up on the first page.

But the issue is, when they accept it, and you change the date after they've accepted it is usually when there's an issue.

It seems that my iPad apps are being approved at a much faster rate than my iPod apps.

ugh.. i'm dying for them to approve my first app :)
first i submitted it then it got rejected for crashing on iphone and itouch, at the start of my vacation where i was away for a week out of state.. then I get home, believe i have fixed the issues submitted the app - 2 days pass then a friend gives me some ideas on my app that i should change - so i canceled the app, made some good changes and now resubmitted last night and just now changed the availability date to this sunday the 25th...

does apple approve apps over the weekend anyone know?
  • SparkyidrSparkyidr Member Posts: 2,033
in my experience...not much happens over the weekends.

I got this gem today: We are currently reviewing an app that you submitted for inclusion on the App Store, and want to let you know that the review process will require additional time. We apologize for the delay and will provide you with an update on the status of your app as soon as possible.

What, do i have to wait for the Apple Board of Directors to review this or what?

I posted my app today and set the release day for monday...I guess we will see how that goes.

@tshirtbooth well thats a great sign. there is nothing strange about the content involved. I wonder what the deal is...

Still waitin for mine to change review status, only been 48 hours, but so Rabat to know whether it will pass review. Should be ok, no sex no violence and does not crash on 3g or 3gs.

Did change the game icon yesterday though but I don't think that would move it back in the cue.

Anyone had anything submitted under the new rules yet? Got mine in a day before it changed.

I just got a voicemail this morning from someone who wants to talk about the app. Waiting for the call to be returned again.
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
@Spaceneedle...thats kinda cool...hearing from the inner workings of Apple...

any ideas what it might be about? too much nudity, violence...Or maybe Steve Jobs wnats to say 'well done' himself...
  • spaceneedlespaceneedle PRO Posts: 93
It was a call from a guy who just calls himself "steve from apple in california" (his vm announcement also just says that), and since the app is a kids app for little girls who like to play with glitter and stars, i really would have a hard time thinking it would have too much nudity or violence. :p Maybe apple has decided the store has no place for entertaining 1-5 year olds due to the increase of warranty claims the app may cause? Its anyone's guess. I was told by a friend of mine that this is not a 'good call', but rather a 'lets discuss how to fix it' or a flat out 'give it up'. This comes after my "we need more time to review this" which may refer to some sort of meeting regarding ... glitter?

@SN- Man, sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with this harmless app. Whatever happens don't let it get you down too much, this much hassle is very rare. It most likely won't happen again.

So not too big of a surprise -- iPad is being held to "higher standards" than iPhone in terms of content depth of apps.
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
    is that what they said?

did they advise on changing a few things? or to skip it.?
  • spaceneedlespaceneedle PRO Posts: 93
What was said was that while this app would be fine for iPhone, the iPad is being held to a higher standard in terms of the level of substance within an iPad application. They want me to take my app, fill it with a bit more content, reactions to other inputs besides just touch and visual displays, add more backgrounds, modes, etc. However, they warned not to just add "gratuitous" content.

He says after I spent "a bit more time on it", to resubmit it and they'd be happy to approve it.
