The most effective ways unfortunately cost money. Do you have budget or are you looking for free ways to get noticed?

$300 won't get a sniff from a lot of ad-networks as it isn't material revenue, however some of them do have self-serve tools for smaller budgets. You can actually buy ads directly on Zynga, EA, Disney, Rovio and Backflip from as little as $200 from Burstly.com although you might have to pay per impression or click. Ultimately you want to buy on a CPI basis (cost per install) as that way you only pay when someone downloads your app. However, most ad networks that support CPI require you to put some tracking code in your app so they can tell when somebody downloaded your app and know when to charge you. I don't think game salad have any 3rd party tracking code included but I might be wrong. Therefore, paying on a CPC (cost per click) will be your better alternative. Millennial (the largest mobile ad network) might also have a self serve tool for small budgets.

I haven't used this service before but check out "ispreadnews". For $126USD they send info about your app to the editors of 394 popular English speaking blogs and news sites for a review.

I'm sure they don't hurt, but I've never known blogs to be good acquisition tools. I would put my money in more contextual places like in-game ads or offer walls (if only we could get 3rd party tracking).
