Any fellow GameSalad developers in the South West of England? (UK)...

Quick message to find out if any other GS developers/graphic artists live in the South West of England.

I'm moving near Plymouth in a weeks time and I was simply wondering who is around that area?

Perhaps there's potential for a meet up one day in the future.

Jon

    Awe, don't be sad. I'll be in England next August for two weeks, I'll stop by then! :)

    I used to live in Plymski a few years ago. I've since crossed over into pasty land where I work as a freelance digital artist, mostly on games at the moment. I'm currently working on my own GS project as well as a number of iOS games for other folks. I was also wondering if there's any other indie-games people around here.

    ... well that's 3 of us in that area (albeit a pretty large area) and one visitor...

    Yeah - plymouth is not that far! Are you are artist or a developer?

    I'm going to be in and out of Southampton in the next few months.

    @sladak I'm an artist by day (working as a professional animator / motion graphic artist / some other artistic title). By night I'm a developer toying with GameSalad, I've made 4 or 5 unique games to date (plus one which reached U.S. itunes free charts), plus about 10 half finished projects that have mostly evolved into decents GS templates.

    Be good to try and keep this thread alive, so we can maybe organise a meet up in the coming months... if its a no go... maybe a London one would be cool...

    Good afternoon...

    I'm now pretty settled down here (He says ignoring the 100's of boxes still yet to be unpacked, rainy leak in his daughters ceiling and broken fencing).

    Thought I'd do another shout out for fellow GS users in and around the South West of England (+ any willing to travel down this way for a meet up soon).

    I'm still on schedule to be in Southampton in a few weeks. I'll be trekking around the realm at some point.

    Probs. I'm often in Plymouth (I lived there whilst at college so I'm usually visiting mates). What have you got in mind? What do game designing geeks do when they get together? I wouldn't know as I'm totally not a geek ;)

    @RP @megapowerskills @sladak
    I met up with a bunch of fellow GS users a couple of years ago in London. Don't think anyone had been that openly geeky before, but it was a really successful day/night.

    Here's the thread for that started by no other than Mr @quantumsheep .
    http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/5735/london-gamesalad-meet/p1

    Basically a bunch of guys turn up... chat about games we're each making and ideally play a bit of each others games on an iphone (or whatever) whilst consuming a good constant amount of beer which results in someone trying to explain touch controls using beer bottles.

    Could be good if we can get enough geeks (Pretty sure geek is the new cool) together. Need a bit of time before I'm ready as ideally I'd love to get some other actual developers to test out a new game idea.

    Well it looks like I'm going to be on the West Coast, So-Cal for the time being. No Southampton assignment (company went through a major re-org) however, I may be in Wales before to long to visit an old Navy shipmate for a good amount of time. I'll keep ya posted.

    @gyroscope‌ . That's Portsmouth.. so even less likely... :-)

    Whereabouts are you based? ... roughly speaking. (We're often up near High Wycombe, Epsom and mid-Kent for the family visiting circus).

    I'm all the way up in the Midlands so no help there I'm afraid!

    Very curious as to who's who in that video though.

    Smack bang in the middle of the Medway towns and Dartford, a couple of roads off an A2 exit....

    If you're down this way at any time, It'd be great for us to meet up. :smile: (There's some great pubs around these parts... :wink: )

    Also if there's another London meet up, I'd try my best to get there. :smile: (I was all set for your meet up on the boat a while ago but I think that unfortunately didn't happen in the end?)

    (For interest, I was going to meet QS ( @quantumsheep ) and Joe ( @firemaplegames ), when he was over in the UK a couple of years ago... at the last minute, my computer packed up on me and I couldn't get the address where they were meeting (I hadn't written it down)... didn't have any phone with internet on it, etc., and by the time I was back on line to get the address, it was too late to leave.... I'm sure QS never believed me at the time... ;-) I was really disappointed, it would have been terrific to have met them both. C'est la vie and all that. :smile: )

    I'm in East Midlands myself but also would travel for a meet up if one was planned.

    I'd definately try and make a meet up in the big Smoke.. if it was in London I could try and tie it in with some work.

    Why don't we organise another meet up in London then? Let's make it easier for people, as a suggestion, with a couple of things - I'm sure you'll agree - venue in a West End London pub; late afternoon/early evening meet start; on a Saturday... :smile:

    Sound good to me @gyroscope‌

    Sounds good... tonnes of things will depend on me making it ( well actually two family and work)... but throw a date out there and lets see who can make it.

    OK, I'll start another thread for a meet up, and perhaps include a poll for a few dates or three, we'll see when the majority of us can make it. :smile:

    Just done a poll for a date for us all to meet up:
