Game Center - Best Practices Discussion

I've been doing my game center stuff the way @tshirtbooth had done them in his tutorials and templates. eg. have a game center log in button AND a game center show leaderboard button. I hadn't really thought about it until now, but is that really necessary.

Isn't all we need is a login behaviour to occur automatically when the game starts - maybe put that on the background actor on the bottom layer.

And then just a show leaderboard button.

I've always found it clunky to have 2 separate buttons for game center.

How are others (you) doing it?

    Hey,
Whilst it may be my fault [never looked for the problem], my app once got rejected because the user couldn't log into gamecenter. I swear I had a rule to login automatically after game is launched, but somehow it didn't work. I think to be safe, it would be best to have a button for it.

However, I have once released a game with a automatic login.
    But your choice :D

Also - Is there a log off game center function. I can't see that anywhere, just a log on.

There is no rule and it's not required.

And another thing. If I use a post to leaderboard rule - will it not auto login in order to post the score?

Logging into GameCenter is a user controlled event by Apple. See my GameCenter videos for some tips on how to do reporting. It's best to have a login button for the player to choose to login or not. You can't force people to use GameCenter many don't so I suggest making it user based and not auto. There is not logout as that is in the GameCenter default menu that comes up at login.
