Has anyone made a license key system for a desktop app?

I was wondering if anyone has done a desktop app with GS? Did you do a key so you can sell it? I would love to hear people's thoughts on this topic.

    I also sell iDVD Themes that I have created and I sell them online via Esellerate which handle selling digital files, games, apps etc. I know they allow you at add serial keys etc if that helps.
