So I was trying to find a place to buy the PDF of Jesse Schell's The Art of Game Design: A book of lenses, when I found this:

http://web.cs.wpi.edu/~rich/courses/imgd4000-d09/lectures/schell-GDC09.pdf

which is a quick summary of the book's concepts. We posted about this book in or blog a while back.

Has anyone read it? What did you think?

Good find adent42 I read this book briefly while at uni, from what I can remember it was a very interesting read. It was also recommended by one of my lectures.

IMO, this book is the best book that there is on the art and discipline of game design. Jesse Schell has written an extraordinary book here. I bought the cards as well and found them to be enormously helpful in acting as a filter for my often noisy game design concepts.

If you're looking for a framework to help think through game designs, I can't think of a better read.
