2 questions: timer and/swipe based events, and curved motion paths

Hi all,

Brand spanking newbie here to gamesalad. I only downloaded it today and have been playing around with it, No doubt I will have lots of questions, but I am currently stuck on two. I am basically trying to create a pinball game and am hoping to achieve the following:

1. When the user depresses the launcher I want the game to be able to determine how long the user has held down the launcher and based on that, animate how far down the launcher moves and set the movement speed of the ball. Alternatively I am happy to use a swipe, ie the further the users swipes the more powerful the shot and the more the spring depresses.

2. Is it possible to make the ball follow a curved path, such as when it goes up a ramp?

Thanks for any help. :)

Oh one last very stupid question. When I first create the project and set iPad I notice that the camera dimensions are smaller then the display dimensions. Is there a reason for this or can I happily change it to be full screen without an issue? Thanks again. :)

Hi, for the launch speed it's worth taking a look at the canon template that comes with Gamesalad. It uses a similar technique to fire cannon balls at various strengths, so it might point you in the right direction.

Regarding the tracking area, you can adjust that to be whatever you want. It just acts as an invisible boundary, that an actor with the control camera behaviour attached will reach before the camera moves to follow. Hope that makes sense!

Regarding curved paths, I think some advanced maths will come in to play there - not my strong point so I'll bow out and let somebody more knowledgeable step in.

PS to edit a post, hover over it and click the small gear icon at the top right of it (but you can only edit for 24 hours) :)
