I may create a Website to showcase our/indie new releases, need feedback.

I got into apple and iOS because i was amazed that there was a new platform for indie creators to showcase their product but now it's like these app stores has killed off the indie developer by sandboxing their stores so much. The app store probably only shows around 300-400 products at a time...considering there is over a million apps out there that's a lot of unseen developers. Im starting to think with the gamesalad community maybe we could all come together to once a website is created with some social elements and give internet browsers another place to find our games and other indie apps lacking reviews and funds to push up the ranks. Maybe i'm driven out of spite because the other day i mentioned one of my apps would be free to a website that announces free apps and they wrote me back very kindly and excited ending the email telling me it would only be $3000 to announce my free app today. $3000 to give something away for free...it's an amazing world we live in.

If interested give me some feedback of what type of site you think i should mimic if i move forward, i could use pligg as a backend and come up with something like this http://wayuphere.com or more of a wordpress style with clean links so every app gets nice full page or something with more user discovery involved basically craigslist with some eye candy "why does craigslist still look like the 90s?".

And as a side note i would also integrate a app to work a long side the website and push notifications for users of new content and apps available.
