What are the "in's and outs" of pivoting? How are anchors used in gs? possible template for learning pivoting?

THis is the way that I know, Since this is the tutorial avalable BUT i was hoping someone could enlighten me on a normail Pivot using rotate and anchors. Or advise me against it?
