Irregularly shaped pictures

Hello!
Opening the 'Aerial Space Ship Game' template that comes with Gamesalad, I noticed that the pictures used for actors are irregularly shaped (i.e., a circle for the planet, the complex shapes of the space ships).

I can't seem to find a way to upload a picture into Gamesalad that isn't a square/rectangle.

I want to be able to use a picture that IS NOT a square. The reason being is that, for example, if I upload a picture of a circle, I don't want the picture to appear with white that fills the corners on the outside of the circle (exposing the square that the circle is in).

Is there a way to crop the pictures in irregular shapes so that ALL YOU SEE is the drawing (and NOT the white corners of the square)?
If not....what is the best way to work around this?

Thank you for helping!
Roger.

You need to produce your image on a transparent background in an application like Photoshop (or any image editor), then make sure you save this image in a format that supports transparency like PNG or TIFF or PSD (etc).
