Is there a tutorial on how to make a ball bounce on a platform and move faster?

So I'm developing an app similar to brick breaker. But this bug really gets on my nerves! The ball doesn't even hit the platform and it hits like an inch above the platform. And another bug is that the ball is fine in the air but slows down for some reason and floats around. PLEASE help me! this bug gets on my nerves and makes me angry.

your probably using an image which has some 'alpha' above and under. go in paint and select only the 'image'
