Amazon reportedly developing a game console

Stumbled upon this article. Just a rumor but the article seems to believe that existing games on their app store will work on the console. Not sure how that would work with a controller, but if this turns out to be true it could be neat. I would expect it to perform better than the Ouya because of Amazon being behind it and also linking it to Amazon Prime streaming and etc.

    Another one eh?
Ouya is going to get a hardware update soon enough.
Steam have their own box they are working on.
Apple had potential to unlock Apple TV and turn it into a console.

It's going to turn into a mess of consoles, but hey, if they can run the same apps I'm down.

*Addendum: If Amazon really does jump on this, they will have a heck of a lot more resources than Ouya. This could spell trouble for the Ouya team as they are still trying to get a foothold into the market. Let's face it. The Ouya does not have an impressive library at the moment and the GUI is not very well constructed (or pleasant to look at). In the end the Ouya is more geared towards the indie dev, the hobbyist and tech lovers out there and is not really a good match up for boot-and-play console gamers. Amazon could make this console much more consumer palatable via quantity of apps, quality, controllers, support and proprietary software (and they hold the keys to the store). This could be interesting.
