I offer spanish translations at cheap fees

diegocsdiegocs Member Posts: 531
Having various languages in your game helps it a lot to expand to a broader audience, which ends up in more profit, so i'm offering you spanish translations for a cheap fee (10$ base + 5$ more for every extra word page, arial 12).

I also can translate work for school or university so that could also help you a lot.

I've already translated two things already, and both costumers have been very happy with my work,

So please contact me if you're interested, email: diegocs@me.com, I always respond to emails so no worries.

    Give me a few reasons why I should pay you to translate my work instead of using google translate for free.

    @Team6Labs I've had some bad feedback from some of friends who are multilingual about the translations from Google.

    Apparently sometimes Google Translate doesn't get the grammar right, and at times ends up funny. Also the worst is when it cannot find a proper substitute for an english word in the foreign language.

    Like my game rescue aliens, when i translated it in russian, it reverse translated to rescue foreigner and rescue stranger :D

    Google translate is ok for one word but constructing sentences it is far better to use a real person. Plus have someone proof read it if you can once it is translated and in the app.

    Oh my gosh....seriously? You would localize apps via google translate?
    I speak German and know google translate does a terrible job translating, even simple sentences can be butchered.

    If you are going to localize get a CERTIFIED translator. Don't take short cuts.

    I have a game that got 300k downloads from spanish speaking countries using google translate, so I wouldn't write it off that quickly.

    A translation for a simple stick running game is not the same for every game, is it?

    For example, an adventure game, with hundreds, if not thousands of lines of text is not in the same ball-park. Especially if any puzzles rely on a clear understanding of what's written in the actual text.

    You've successfully derailed the thread, though. Well done.

    I'm not particularly worried about translating my games, but if I was, I'd make sure that a native speaker got to do it.

    It's called being thorough, accurate and professional.

    Good luck to the original poster. I'm sure some people will find what you're offering useful.

    Perhaps examples of your work would help?

    Cheers,

    Throughout the localization history of video games there have been titles with butchered translations that still sold very well. Personally I would not take that gamble, but to each his own right? We are at a different age now and the standards are raised, the ability to have these services done are cheaper as well. I gotta know, how much text or written dialogue and story was in your game? Are we talking a large title or a simple time killer?

    In that case, it may be a good thing, but I'd still have an individual fluent in that language check it no matter how how simple the readable content it.

    @RP only the description was localized. But I didn't really have any text in my game. Fr descriptions, I think google translate works great. For in game text, you would obviously want to be more accurate.

    @quantumsheep I didn't really derail the thread. I only asked a question.

    It makes me cringe when I see games in English developed by people whose first language isn't English, so there's no way I'd butcher someone else's language by using online tools.

    I have actually translated a few games before, from other gamesalad users. I actually translated one of POM's (a frequent user at this forum) game, Twin Swords (https://search.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZContentLink.woa/wa/link?mt=8&path=apps/twinswords), which was an extensive job.

    Of course you could go ahead and use google translator, but the problem is that as said before in some of the comments above the problem with it comes when you try to build a sentence with the right meaning or that actually makes sense.

    So if anyone is interested just send me an email, I'll get it done as soon i can possibly can.

    @POM can give you my word ;)

    @quantumsheep take a look at twin swords from POM, it's got a large amount of translated dialogs ;)

    @diegocs gracias mate,

    It would be good if you can attach some sort of template, so it would be easier to send exactly what we need to translate,

    Coz sometimes we may need translations in screenshots, other times in feature lists and updates etc.

    I think you could just send me the file with the info you need to be transaleted, just add a title and i think that's enough. Anyway if someone wants me to build a template for them, no prob.

    @snapfirestudios ;)
