To Preload or Not to Preload

I know to "Optimise" from the other thread you should uncheck "Preload Art" but if I check them all to slow the loading down shouldn't it increase performance overall if everything is preloaded and on 1 main scene?

    I can't seem to tell the difference with them checked or unchecked. The splash screen still takes a life time or two to load.

    In theory you would think so, but I have not seen this to be true. I only use pre-load for characters that have animations, and unchecked for everything else. I do notice a big difference in load times between using pre-load, and not using it, but as far as gameplay, I haven't noticed that anything is quicker or slower during actual gameplay.
