Is the Windows version outdated?

Hey GS community.

I've read through the cookbook on this site, and the salad seems pretty straight forward to work with compared to other forms of game creation.

I'll be giving Gamesalad a try over the weekend. I've noticed that the Windows version is an earlier release than the Mac version, or so it seems by the version number. Does this mean it is a little outdated compared to the Mac version?

It's a few versions behind like Jon said, but that doesn't mean it's not usable. It just means it doesn't have some of the features the Mac version has. You can still create some amazing apps with Windows Creator.

Thanks for your input. I'm currently setting up Mac OS X as a virtual machine to test both versions out.

How hard will it be to convert one game from the mac, to run in the Windows version? I'd like to be able to create games for both iPhone and Android devices. And you can only create for the Android on the Windows version correct?

You can create and deploy to iOS and Android devices from Mac with no problem. When you're ready to submit, just search up a tutorial on YouTube.

I am currently using the Windows version and it is hard to find out exactly what the differences are between the Mac and Windows versions. I have sent an email to support to try and get more information so I can decide if I should change to the Mac version. I don't know how hard it would be to change work already done over maybe someone could answer that.

I have the pro windows version and have been using GameSalad for about a two weeks. I now want to test my app on my iPhone but I can't do this in the Windows version. But it can be tested on an android devise which I don't have. Also as far as I can tell there is no GameSalad Viewer for windows.

It is also crashing a lot and I am not sure why it could be something I have done or the software. For example it doesn't like me dragging and dropping more than one image file at a time and overwriting existing file in the library.

Make sure you constantly save your work it sucks when it crashes and I haven't done a recent save.

I am very happy with GameSalad there is no way I could write an app without it and there is lots of help here. When I have problems most them can be solved by searching this forum or the web. I will let you know what GameSalad has to say when they get back to me.

Thanks for all the comments, I will take everything into consideration.

Now I'm just waiting to hear from anyone, to see if you can compile an app for iOS using Mac OS X on a virtual machine program such as VMWare. I'd rather use the Mac version, but not sure if I want to buy a separate machine for the compile/testing...

I've created another topic asking this question.

I built an app in the windows version and used macincloud to add some bits and pieces that aren't yet in the windows version. It's really laggy but you can do it. If you actually want to test on an iOS device, I think you may have to use a service like testflightapp as you can't connect via USB to your virtual/cloud mac.

It's simple going between mac and windows versions, you just export the project and pop it on dropbox to open on your cloud computer.

Thanks for letting me know about those two services, and the ease of moving back and forth between the two Operating Systems.

I actually don't own an iOS device yet. I wonder if it may actually be possible to attach through the VMWare suite. My install of the Mac OS X in VMWare is reading all of my other hardware.
