Universal app - Different artwork for iPhone and iPad versions

Just wondering if anyone can help with this..

Is it possible for me to create three background images, one at iPad resolution, one at iPhone 4 resolution, and another for iPhone 5?

I know it sounds like it sounds like an easy question but I can't seem to figure it out. Even when I put the iPhone background in a different scene the camera will crop or overscan and distort the background so it doesn't fit.

Basically i just need a 2048*1536 background to display on a 2048*1536 screen, and a 640*960 background on a 640*960 screen etc.

Thanks!

If you want it custom like that it's really best to make two separate apps. As the issue is the scene size not the image size in it's aspect ratio. An iPad is a 4:3 aspect ratio same for iPhone Legacy but the iPhone 5 is 16:9 aspect ratio two totally different beasts. You can do some camera trickery for iphone5 but this tends to contort the image if too much is applied.

Yes you can, in the background actor put three if statements based on the height or width of device.

It will still crop it if the iPad is the scene size to start. He said just that it crops the image and it will and I know you can make things adjust based on device screen size but that is not what he is asking. If you use an IPhone image for the background it has to be at the iPhone size and placed in the center of the iPad scene. When cropping happens it cuts from both the top and the bottom of the scene size.

Thanks for the advice guys it's definitely appreciated, I'm really surprised that this is such a hard thing to do! The only way I can get it to work is with the stretch mode on the nightly build but it's not available on publishing yet...

Just wondering if anyone knows when it's likely to be available?

You can publish with the nightly.

Yeah but the overscan / letterbox thing is an option on the publishing page itself not actually in the creator isn't it? If there's a way of doing it from the creator that would be awesome...

You can see the effects of overscan in creator overscan and crop are the same thing.
