ipad and ios universal publishing

Hey I was wondering what is iOS universal Publishing? And why is there a separate section for iPad publishing. I thought when you publish for iPhone it can support ipad as well, it has iPad pictures in the binary screens. So do I have to publish in iPad as well so it can be available there too. My friend downloaded my game on his iPad and it worked. Please tell all the differences.

iOS publishing Universal is a way to show your app in Itunes Store for iPad and itunes store for iPhone or iPod. If you publishing a game only iPhone he is only show on the itunes store iPhone. That is your question?

Yes oh I thought it was the same store. So I have to publish it now on the universal one
