What can you sell and what you can't?

Hi, I've been playing around with gamesalad for a few days now and can now finally make the most basic of games. Of course, having a basic game will not get you anywhere money wise so I decided to look around for templetes but can't seem to fully understand the Terms and Conditions.

I do apologies. English is my fourth language so I literally have to get a dictionary everytime I have to read something as long and as important as the rules of buying and selling of games.

1. If I buy a template, I would have to obviously change the pics, music and any other other arts related materials in the template because these are not my own. Am I right on this one

2. But I can use Art purchased from gamesalad and use them on my game instead of the ones found on the template

If these are the case, what part of the template am I allowed to sell? Also, I do apologies if this is going to a dumb question, what do I need to change when it says "you need to change the skin" in order to sell the game?

You must remove and replace all art unless the seller says otherwise. Likewise for the sounds.

You can build off if the template and then upload to the App Store. That's what templates are for. :)

That is basically it. You can either create or buy templates from GS.
Some uses template to make a fast game. Others rather do it manually and create their own template. Usually you just need 1 working game and re-skining the graphics. If you want it more original you should create the graphics or hire one. BTW i'm a freelance game artist if youre intersted: ecanhoj(at)gmail

Just to add to this. When you buy a template you have the right to use that template to create an app and sell the published app. You don't legally have to change the template at all but how much can you expect to make if you don't make it slightly original to yourself?

Now I'm just saying this to clear up any possible misunderstanding. You have not rights to sell the template just a published app based on the template.

    Hopefully that makes sense.

    Cheers

    Hi everyone..

Actually it was a very good question! I don't think you can resell the template, but you can buy it and modify it to publish as your own. (All, please correct me if I'm incorrect!)

I wondered about so many people buying the same templates, does it comes down to the person with the most creative theme/graphics/music etc that has a chance in the market.. There could be thousands of "angry birds" style apps out there now, and those with a marketing strategy/money/better design will stand a greater chance of getting a return.

Just throwing my 2 cents worth in there. New to apps, but an old hand at webdesign and fancied a change. Hello :)

    Chris.
