Does anyone do there own work on this? i know they have some for sale on the GS market place.
but I'm interested in making my own.

if anyone does or knows about this please let me know what software is used to make it sound professional and what mic.

Well first you have to have voice training and then the proper mic depends on the type of style you're after. To do quality stuff you need to understand preamps, compressors and EQ. Pro quality VO work is not as simple as setting up a mic and talking into it. We do our own VO work but both my partner and I have formal voice training and sound engineering training.

@fryingbaconstudios nice... other then the voice training, do you have any tutorials on anything to do with this?

i mean I'm just looking for good sound. but what I'm looking for is like when you get a power up.... or do something cool... and just a quick voice comes up saying something like "awesome"

just something like that?

For some simple FX voiceovers, you won't really need to go all out with voice training or get into heavy expenses, but the most important thing is a good microphone. A built-in mic is not going to sound good, so if you have a decent omni-directional mic or have money to invest in a decent VO or podcast mic, you'll be doing yourself a favor.

You can use GarageBand (if you are are using Macs) and create all kinds of nifty effects. I'm sure that you can create what you are looking for with just a decent mic and Garageband.

Yeah if all you want is little voice samples then that's not really voice over. As my partner @RP said a decent USB mic like the Blue Snowball and Garageband will work fine as you're probably going to wet the track with lots of reverb and such.

Been recording/produced music and voice overs and I agree with RP. If you dont have alot of money and want to invest in a home recording studio - start simple. One thing that could be a cheap and nice investment would be a pop filter

One tip I can give you as a singer in a rock band:
First put your hands to your sides. Then push you hands out by putting tension on your belly (kinda). Keep the tension on and then talk. Let go when you are done talking (duh).
It is a simple trick but your voice sounds way much stronger and you don't even have to shout.

Ah ludwigheijden diaphragm control. Speak from the diaphragm not the nasal chambers in the head like we do when we speak normally. I also have some tutorials on audio on my website there are some good audio basics there. I should do one on recording levels and such.

@fryingbaconstudios you Americans have an advantage on us Dutch for example. You already talk with a lot more twang. I had to learn that. (Twang is something you hear good in country).

@volontaarts good to hear it worked. When I learned this I could sing, before I sounded awfull.
