Hi everyone, I released my first game Mutant Mayhem just over a week ago. Sales have been slow around 1 to 2 a day and I believe my apps icon is partly to blame.

Small Icon:

Large Icon:

As you can see its quite dark and not very eye catching. Is there a way to change the icon?
Is it possible to change the icon when I next update my app?
As I plan to improve the game but if I am stuck with the icon, I might just start work on Mutant Mayhem 2 instead.

If you go into iTunes Connect, you can edit your app information. Just go to the upload tab and change the icon (it's where you first uploaded it when you sent your app off).

No need to wait for an update. I believe it's keyword changes that require that.

    Hope that helps,

    QS :D

the 512 icon is whats in the store
change it 20 times a day if you want, and screenshots

the 57 is only whats on the device

note: takes an hour or two to update in the store

Hi Guys thanks for the quick replys. Just to clarify, do you have to do an update, to change the small (57*57) icon.

As when I checked iTunes Connect the other day I could only see how to update the large (512*512) icon.

Also I read somewhere that the large and the small icon had to be the exact same image, is this true?

The only way to change the small icon is to do an update, I think.

Go ahead and try changing just the large icon through itunes connect and see what happens... I've done that before and believe it changed the one in the itunes store, but see for yourself

Good luck! Do you have a picture of the new icon?

Thanks Butterbean, not yet I am playing around with a few ideas. I am hoping to make it much brighter and much more eye catching, like your last two apps, they have been a big influence, thanks :-)

Yep that is true for sure, just upload a new 512 and hit save just like changes your description

I change my icon in the store all the time, ive even changed it 5 or 6 times in one day just trying to get it perfect in the store lol

    It changes:
    1. in the store on computer
    2. In the store on your iphone
    3. in the store on your ipad

The only thing the small icon does is the actual game app on your iphone once you have downloaded (part of the application basically)

It's true LadyPixel... I focus for days on which icon to use now, it can really make or break a game's initial sales :)

    Good info James!

Thanks a lot james thats really helped me out mate.
From now on I too will spend more time on making an attractive icon and not throw it together in 10 minutes lol, thanks for the advice butterbean.

    Hi
I just uploaded my first app which was approved and has gone for sale. However, I made a mistake with the large image (which I thought was for the iTunes on-line only) which I now find identifies the app on the App Store - oeps.
I can't seem to edit this large image though - the App guide also says it is in locked state and therefore edits are not possible.
I can change screen shot images but again not the 'large image' - is there any way I can do this or do I have to contact Apple?

    Thanks

it seems that you can only change the large icon, categories, and keywords when you update. It used to be that you could switch categories and large icon anytime. They seem to have changed that. I think you'll need to update your app.

Sorry to say that Apple has changes the rules again, and now most things cannot be changed unless you make an update :-(

    Thanks for the quick response!

Do you know if my App will still be available if I submit a new version 1.1 with the correct image associated with it? So when Apple takes another week to look at it, the old version will still be available?

Also, if, for any reason, they reject this version1.1 would the original app still be there?

    Thanks
