Facebook page for your app

Hey all,

A Facebook page is a good way of getting your app known i think, or your game studio anyway.

Any ideas on which category to choose when creating a facebook page? Cause on creating a Facebook page, the 'amusement' category only gives movies and books etc, but no games.

It's most entertainment. That's what I have used for my 2 pages including my latest - https://www.facebook.com/SantasPresentdrop

I would recommend keeping to one facebook page, anymore and any small design studio will have difficulty creating two userbases, let alone one!

You mean it is best to make one facebook page for your studio and all apps, in stead of one facebook page each app?

You can do that. If you use your NORMAL facebook profile and search Static html https://apps.facebook.com/iframehost/?fb_source=search&ref=br_tf or copy and paste this in your APP page search(not sure if it works becauses its UK) but failing that just copy the link from your personal search into the search of your business/app page and install this tab.

You can then create a tab for your page and fill it with content.

@BasGoodboy I think so yes, of course big companies like Rovio can make a page for each app, but in my mind there is no reason to spread your wings further than is necessary, otherwise it will become counter-intuitive.
    I suggest:
    1. Make a website showing your app portfiolio, who you are (optional), and a support page (which apple likes for apps)
    2. Make a company facebook page - for key updates/announcements
    3. (Optional) Use one more form of social media, such as twitter, for quick updates which can be built into your other media streams.

@jigglybean makes a good point, you can, if you have the time, highly customize facebook pages to make them unique, well worth doing if you have the time (a banner to say 'like' when the user hasn't liked yet is great.

    Cheers
    Max

I have a facebook page for my company and for one specific app. The specific app gets MUCH more traction.. here's why:

When you like a page your friends can see it. It makes more sense (from a marketing perspective) to have people liking a page with your game icon and name "Angry Birds" as opposed to a generic name like "Rovio"...

My company name (Spilling Coffee Media) doesn't really say much... it means NOTHING to strangers. But "Santa's Naughty or Nice Scan-O-Matic" pretty much explains it all... total strangers kind of "get" what that page is all about.

    Here's my product page: https://www.facebook.com/santascanomatic

I figure I can always announce new games/apps to people on that page once or twice without it becoming a burden.
